Wild aperitifs and romantic sunsets: African safaris in Sicily

If you are looking to experience the thrill of an African safari but Covid 19 doesn’t allow you to go, I have found for you a good alternative. In Sicily, there is a wonderful natural reserve in Castelvetrano, that is now open to public.
A totally unique area of 740 acres of which 260 acres of woodland. This place is called Safaria, definitely a magic place. It is a large estate of which today remains only the Byzantine Cuba of the island, a square-shaped church with three naves, and the family’s ancient hunting reserve transformed today into a naturalistic oasis.
There are fallow deer, mouflons, wild boars, deer and various types of birds, numerous marshes, swamps and ponds that, with the warm lights of the setting sun, give guests a truly unique landscape.

The entire estate was purchased in the eighteenth century with its Byzantine church, the monastery of the Basilian monks and the Trinità beam by the Saporito family, all immersed in a historic garden among centuries-old trees, Cycasand rare palms. The church is considered one the best-preserved monuments of the Arab-Norman period in the island, testifying to the greatness of one of the most flourishing periods in Sicilian history and to the expertise of the Muslim workers engaged to craft it for the Christian kings.
Family safaris are regularly organized, it will be possible to immerse yourself in the vast reserve on horseback or by jeep accompanied by expert guides. Inside the property we also find a mansion, Baglio Trinità, a dream location where to organize events and receptions.
The halls, furniture and accessories,with the atmosphere of the Sicilian seventeenth-eighteenth century, can accommodate up to 500 people.Visitors can also book an aperitif, tasting the typical Sicilian products and be charmed, at the same time, by a breathtaking sunset.
